Ibiza People

People from Ibiza – Thomas Schnürer

Some people don’t just meet us – they stay. Thomas Schnürer was one of those people. A true character with an open mind, a sharp tongue, a soft core, and a heart full of ideas. Now he's no longer with us – but his traces remain.

Born in 1960 in Gelnhausen and a Pisces, Thomas was a dreamer with a profound understanding. After completing his training as a photo salesman, he traveled the world – primarily to the USA and Mexico. There, he met artists who lit something inside him. Back in Germany, he began creating his own works: sculptures, statues, paintings – pure expression. Not for the market, but for the soul.

In 1997, a serious accident changed his life. He was in a coma for weeks – but Thomas wouldn't have been Thomas if he hadn't come back from it with a twinkle in his eye. His motto:
“Better horizontally striped than small checks.”
He remained uncomfortable, strange, warm – and genuine.

Thomas Schnürer – An artist with heart, humor and attitude
He loved life, art – and Ibiza

An important companion was the painter Prof. Fred Greef, who supported him both in Cologne and on Ibiza. Ibiza – for Thomas, this was not a holiday destination, but a feelingThe colors, the light, the imperfections. The island touched him—and he touched it back.

Actually we wanted to Ibiza Inside about his upcoming photo exhibition. But that never happened. Thomas is on 1 May 2025 died. The funeral on 17. May We had to accompany them from a distance. But on 28 May 2025 we have together with his niece Mona Schnürer visited his grave – and left greetings from his heart island.

Thomas Schnürer grave

Thomas last lived in Linsengericht, where he cared for animals, looked after houses, and continued to pursue his art. And where he never lost himself – despite everything.

He made us smile, marvel, and reflect. And he remains alive in many stories, images, and encounters.

Take care, Thomas. Maybe you're really roaming the stars up there now.

Who was Thomas Schnürer?

A guy with rough edges and a hell of a lot of heart. Artist, traveler, free spirit. His work—whether sculptures or photo collages—always spoke something about him: his strength, his vulnerability, his wit. Ibiza was a part of him. And we're glad we were able to accompany him for a while.

Digital exhibition – as a sign of remembrance

Since his planned exhibition in Ibiza unfortunately did not take place, his niece Mona Schnürer and we decided to create a small digital exhibition here. We show some of his works – pictures that he often and happily used in Facebook groups In doing so, he not only expressed his own longing for Ibiza, but also awakened the love of the island in many others – and once again reminded all those who already live there what a paradise they are in.

More than pictures – Thomas Schnürer and nude poetry

Less well known, but deeply connected to his artistic self, was Thomas' work as Nude poet. Under the title "Nude poetry – female nudes and erotic poems" In 2009, he published a special work that combined erotic photography and sensitive poetry in a very personal way. His book was self-published and bears the ISBN 978-3-86931-099-2. In 52 pages, he unfolded a quiet sensuality that lay beyond clichés and loud voyeurism – more a look behind the skin than at it.

For him, his nude poetry was an expression of respect, closeness, and beauty. One viewer wrote of his works:

"I love your works, your ideas, your way of combining eroticism with art and sensitivity. From naked beauty, you create captivating sensuality, a firework of the senses—every time anew."

Thomas also shared his thoughts and works online, especially on Facebook – often under the name "Too Mass", a playful variation of his first name. His community grew over the years, and his art inspired many who accompanied him there.

Thomas Schnürer was never just one thing. And that's exactly what made him so special.

Thomas Schnürer – author, photographer, nude poet

With his nude poetry, Thomas combined photography and poetry into an art form that sought to touch rather than shock. His works speak of closeness, attraction, vulnerability—and always, of dignity.

He himself once said in a post:

“My camera doesn’t want to expose, but rather reveal – what shimmers beneath the skin.”

With his book “Nude Poetry” He didn't want to deliver a glossy aesthetic, but rather a feeling. A quiet whisper where others scream. His images were delicate, playful, serious—and honest.

Flightright – When passenger rights simply work

Flight delays, cancellations, or overbookings are unfortunately not uncommon. However, many passengers are unaware that they are entitled to compensation in such cases – and even fewer know how to pursue it. This is precisely where Flight right comes into play: a pioneer among legal tech companies and market leader in the field of air passenger rights.

Specialist in EU passenger rights since 2010

Since its founding in 2010, Flightright has pursued a clear goal: to help passengers assert their rights against airlines – quickly, easily, and risk-free. The legal basis for this is the EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation 261/2004, which, among other things, provides compensation of up to 600 euros for flight problems.

How Flightright works

Using the service is incredibly simple: Affected parties enter the key details of their flight online – within a few minutes, the system automatically checks whether a claim exists. If so, Flightright handles the entire process with the airline, including all legal steps. Even court proceedings can be conducted upon request – at no additional cost to the customer.

The highlight: Payment is only made if the claim is successful. If no payout is made, there are no costs. If compensation is successful, Flightright retains a commission from the compensation amount. This model ensures maximum fairness and transparency.

Retroactive up to three years possible

Many people don’t know that even flights that took place in the past can still be compensated – usually up to three years retroactively. It is therefore worthwhile to have older cases reviewed again.

How much is the compensation?

The amount of compensation depends on the flight route:

  • EUR 250 for short distances up to 1.500 km
  • EUR 400 for medium-haul flights between 1.500 km and 3.500 km
  • EUR 600 for long distances over 3.500 km

This usually requires an arrival delay of at least three hours – or a flight cancelled at short notice for which the airline is responsible.

Why Flightright?

What sets Flightright apart is not only its fair success model, but also its impressive success rate of around 99% in legal proceedings. With over 600 million euros in compensation payments enforced Flightright is one of the absolute pioneers in Europe.

The provider also scores points with transparent communication: The status of the case can be viewed online at any time – conveniently from the sofa or on the go via smartphone.

For all those who do not want to be left with the damage

No one should forgo their right to compensation just because the process seems complicated. With Flightright, asserting your rights is child's play – without any stress, paperwork, or legal fees. Anyone who has experienced flight trouble can now easily protect themselves and have their compensation pursued professionally.

Check here whether you are entitled to money – and in the best case scenario, receive compensation soon
