Beach rules on Ibiza & Formentera

Ibiza and Formentera are islands full of beauty – and full of people who want to experience it. To ensure that nature and relaxation remain in harmony, there are clear rules for visiting the beach. Adhering to them not only protects the dunes and the sea, but also the unique lifestyle of both islands.

🌴 Beach rules on Ibiza & Formentera – What is allowed and what is not

🏖️ General beach rules in Ibiza

  • No wild camping or overnight stays
Sleeping in a car, van or on the beach is prohibited – especially in summer, this is strictly enforced.
  • No speakers or music
Bluetooth speakers and loud music disturb the peace and quiet – they are prohibited in many communities.
  • Nudism only on certain beaches
Officially permitted, for example, in Es Cavallet, Aguas Blancas, and Playa des Codolar. It's usually tolerated in remote coves.
  • Dogs only with restrictions
During peak season (May–October), dogs are prohibited on most beaches. During off-season, dogs are permitted, but must be kept on a leash.
  • No fire, barbecues or shisha
The risk of forest fires is high – open fires are therefore prohibited everywhere.
  • Take your rubbish with you
Please put cigarette butts, plastic bottles, etc. in the bin or take them with you – many beaches are difficult to access and are not cleaned regularly.
  • No sale without a license
Mobile vendors, massage therapists, or beverage vendors without official permission are illegal.
  • Drones banned
Flying over people, beaches or nature reserves is not permitted without a special permit – fines of up to €3.000 are possible.

🏝️ Special features on Formentera

Formentera goes one step further in terms of nature conservation. Many beaches are part of the Parc Natural de Ses Salines d'Eivissa i Formentera and have their own rules:

  • Access only via wooden walkways
Entering the dune landscape is strictly forbidden – even away from seemingly “open paths”.
  • Limited visitor numbers
In high season, for example, on the beach at Ses Illetes Access is regulated. Those who arrive late must wait or turn back.
  • No private cars in nature zones
In summer, beaches such as Ses Illetes or Llevant can only be reached on foot, by bicycle or by electric shuttle.
  • Dogs particularly restricted
Dogs are often completely prohibited in nature reserves – even in the off-season.
  • Smoking ban on some beaches
To protect nature and bathers, popular beaches such as Es Pujols an explicit smoking ban.
  • Nude bathing possible almost everywhere
Formentera is very liberal when it comes to nudism – almost every second beach is “unofficially nudist-friendly”, especially in the north and east.

👮‍♂️ What happens if the rules are broken?

Warnings, fines (€100–€3.000), and, in the worst case, expulsion – the authorities don't take lightly, especially in protected areas. Friendly behavior and common sense are the best way to ensure unforgettable days at the beach on Ibiza and Formentera.

Flightright – When passenger rights simply work

Flight delays, cancellations, or overbookings are unfortunately not uncommon. However, many passengers are unaware that they are entitled to compensation in such cases – and even fewer know how to pursue it. This is precisely where Flight right comes into play: a pioneer among legal tech companies and market leader in the field of air passenger rights.

Specialist in EU passenger rights since 2010

Since its founding in 2010, Flightright has pursued a clear goal: to help passengers assert their rights against airlines – quickly, easily, and risk-free. The legal basis for this is the EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation 261/2004, which, among other things, provides compensation of up to 600 euros for flight problems.

How Flightright works

Using the service is incredibly simple: Affected parties enter the key details of their flight online – within a few minutes, the system automatically checks whether a claim exists. If so, Flightright handles the entire process with the airline, including all legal steps. Even court proceedings can be conducted upon request – at no additional cost to the customer.

The highlight: Payment is only made if the claim is successful. If no payout is made, there are no costs. If compensation is successful, Flightright retains a commission from the compensation amount. This model ensures maximum fairness and transparency.

Retroactive up to three years possible

Many people don’t know that even flights that took place in the past can still be compensated – usually up to three years retroactively. It is therefore worthwhile to have older cases reviewed again.

How much is the compensation?

The amount of compensation depends on the flight route:

  • EUR 250 for short distances up to 1.500 km
  • EUR 400 for medium-haul flights between 1.500 km and 3.500 km
  • EUR 600 for long distances over 3.500 km

This usually requires an arrival delay of at least three hours – or a flight cancelled at short notice for which the airline is responsible.

Why Flightright?

What sets Flightright apart is not only its fair success model, but also its impressive success rate of around 99% in legal proceedings. With over 600 million euros in compensation payments enforced Flightright is one of the absolute pioneers in Europe.

The provider also scores points with transparent communication: The status of the case can be viewed online at any time – conveniently from the sofa or on the go via smartphone.

For all those who do not want to be left with the damage

No one should forgo their right to compensation just because the process seems complicated. With Flightright, asserting your rights is child's play – without any stress, paperwork, or legal fees. Anyone who has experienced flight trouble can now easily protect themselves and have their compensation pursued professionally.

Check here whether you are entitled to money – and in the best case scenario, receive compensation soon
