The two swimmers alternated every two hours. While one was in the water, the other stayed on the support boat to refuel and recover. This rotation principle is standard practice in official tandem record attempts and requires perfect teamwork and iron discipline.

From the English Channel to the Ocean's Seven

Nathalie Pohl has long been among the world's elite in extreme swimming. In 2024, she made history as the first German woman to cross all seven straits of the legendary "Ocean's Seven"—the equivalent of the "Seven Summits" in mountaineering. These include the English Channel, the Catalina Channel, the Tsugaru Strait, and the North Channel between Ireland and Scotland.

Pohl holds several world records, including the fastest crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar and the Jersey Channel. Her achievements are the result of years of preparation, countless hours of training, and the ability to stay focused even under extreme conditions.

Physical and mental strength

Extreme swimming is one of the toughest disciplines in sports. The water temperature, nutrition during swimming, navigation in complete darkness, and the danger of currents place enormous demands on the body and mind. Nathalie Pohl trains specifically for these challenges – with mental coaching, cold-weather adaptation, and strength training.

During the Ibiza record attempt, there were several critical moments when wind and waves made swimming difficult. Nevertheless, Pohl and Donaldson remained undeterred, battling kilometer after kilometer until they passed the final buoy, exhausted but happy.

Symbol of perseverance and courage

The world record around Ibiza is more than a sporting sensation. It represents endurance, determination, and the power of teamwork. Pohl and Donaldson have proven that limits often exist only in the mind – and that with courage, discipline, and passion, the impossible becomes possible.

This extraordinary achievement will go down in open water swimming history and inspire future generations of swimmers.

Flightright – When passenger rights simply work

Flight delays, cancellations, or overbookings are unfortunately not uncommon. However, many passengers are unaware that they are entitled to compensation in such cases – and even fewer know how to pursue it. This is precisely where Flight right comes into play: a pioneer among legal tech companies and market leader in the field of air passenger rights.

Specialist in EU passenger rights since 2010

Since its founding in 2010, Flightright has pursued a clear goal: to help passengers assert their rights against airlines – quickly, easily, and risk-free. The legal basis for this is the EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation 261/2004, which, among other things, provides compensation of up to 600 euros for flight problems.

How Flightright works

Using the service is incredibly simple: Affected parties enter the key details of their flight online – within a few minutes, the system automatically checks whether a claim exists. If so, Flightright handles the entire process with the airline, including all legal steps. Even court proceedings can be conducted upon request – at no additional cost to the customer.

The highlight: Payment is only made if the claim is successful. If no payout is made, there are no costs. If compensation is successful, Flightright retains a commission from the compensation amount. This model ensures maximum fairness and transparency.

Retroactive up to three years possible

Many people don’t know that even flights that took place in the past can still be compensated – usually up to three years retroactively. It is therefore worthwhile to have older cases reviewed again.

How much is the compensation?

The amount of compensation depends on the flight route:

  • EUR 250 for short distances up to 1.500 km
  • EUR 400 for medium-haul flights between 1.500 km and 3.500 km
  • EUR 600 for long distances over 3.500 km

This usually requires an arrival delay of at least three hours – or a flight cancelled at short notice for which the airline is responsible.

Why Flightright?

What sets Flightright apart is not only its fair success model, but also its impressive success rate of around 99% in legal proceedings. With over 600 million euros in compensation payments enforced Flightright is one of the absolute pioneers in Europe.

The provider also scores points with transparent communication: The status of the case can be viewed online at any time – conveniently from the sofa or on the go via smartphone.

For all those who do not want to be left with the damage

No one should forgo their right to compensation just because the process seems complicated. With Flightright, asserting your rights is child's play – without any stress, paperwork, or legal fees. Anyone who has experienced flight trouble can now easily protect themselves and have their compensation pursued professionally.

Check here whether you are entitled to money – and in the best case scenario, receive compensation soon
