Ibiza Diary: News from Sunday, September 21, 2025

The Balearic Islands are saying goodbye to one of the hottest summers in decades: According to Aemet, the summer of 2025 was the third warmest summer since 1961Ibiza and Mallorca were particularly hard hit, each experiencing at least one heatwave, and the nights remained unusually warm ("tropical nights"). June reached record temperatures, according to measurements, significantly above average. Rainfall was generally normal in the Balearic Islands, but drier than usual in the Pitiusas. September continues the string of exceptionally warm and dry days so far.

• An attempted kidnapping occurred this morning in Ibiza Town. Several perpetrators got out of two vehicles – including a black pickup truck and a car with Italian license plates – and attempted to force an Italian man into a car. The victim managed to free himself, suffered cuts to his face and body, and fled. Eyewitnesses alerted the police and emergency services, and a license plate number was also noted. Investigators believe this was a targeted kidnapping attempt; the motive is still unclear.

● On September 28, 2025 The second edition of the Ibiza Fashion Show The Ibiza Fashion Show takes place at the Baluard de Sant Pere in Dalt Vila and brings fashion, art, and culture together. Organized by photographer Marta Rojo, models from Miss Baleares will perform, and the Colla Pagesa de Buscastell will provide traditional dance performances. Collections from designers and labels such as Morado, Beau_Hats, Origens Pomar, Ñandutí, Brioni.Swin, Johnny Mesq, Natalia Vera, and Delphine Temples will be presented. There will also be an art market with around 15 local artisans and a charity bar, the proceeds of which will benefit social projects. The Ibiza Fashion Show thus cements its reputation as a cultural highlight of the island, combining international trends with local tradition.

● The Beer & Gastro Fair de Ibiza 2025 concluded yesterday after two successful days of the fair. Numerous visitors enjoyed the colorful mix of culinary highlights, traditional cuisine, and creative street food ideas. More than 200 types of beer provided variety and turned the fair into a paradise for connoisseurs. A broad musical program was also offered – from DJ sets to atmospheric live acts. In addition to the culinary experience, solidarity was also a focus, for example with the benefit offer for the Asociación Elena Torres. Overall, the event demonstrated how closely gastronomy, culture, and conviviality are connected in Ibiza. To the photos at Recurrent and Diary!

• This year, Ibiza's accident statistics are worrying: By mid-September 2025, there were already 34 deaths on the Pitiusas' roads, more than in all of 2024. Motorcyclists and pedestrians are particularly affected – they account for 85% of traffic accidents. Officials emphasize that these figures underscore the urgency of improving infrastructure, clearer traffic regulations, and increased prevention measures. Road sections with poor conditions or blind curves continue to be considered particularly dangerous.

Flightright – When passenger rights simply work

Flight delays, cancellations, or overbookings are unfortunately not uncommon. However, many passengers are unaware that they are entitled to compensation in such cases – and even fewer know how to pursue it. This is precisely where Flight right comes into play: a pioneer among legal tech companies and market leader in the field of air passenger rights.

Specialist in EU passenger rights since 2010

Since its founding in 2010, Flightright has pursued a clear goal: to help passengers assert their rights against airlines – quickly, easily, and risk-free. The legal basis for this is the EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation 261/2004, which, among other things, provides compensation of up to 600 euros for flight problems.

How Flightright works

Using the service is incredibly simple: Affected parties enter the key details of their flight online – within a few minutes, the system automatically checks whether a claim exists. If so, Flightright handles the entire process with the airline, including all legal steps. Even court proceedings can be conducted upon request – at no additional cost to the customer.

The highlight: Payment is only made if the claim is successful. If no payout is made, there are no costs. If compensation is successful, Flightright retains a commission from the compensation amount. This model ensures maximum fairness and transparency.

Retroactive up to three years possible

Many people don’t know that even flights that took place in the past can still be compensated – usually up to three years retroactively. It is therefore worthwhile to have older cases reviewed again.

How much is the compensation?

The amount of compensation depends on the flight route:

  • EUR 250 for short distances up to 1.500 km
  • EUR 400 for medium-haul flights between 1.500 km and 3.500 km
  • EUR 600 for long distances over 3.500 km

This usually requires an arrival delay of at least three hours – or a flight cancelled at short notice for which the airline is responsible.

Why Flightright?

What sets Flightright apart is not only its fair success model, but also its impressive success rate of around 99% in legal proceedings. With over 600 million euros in compensation payments enforced Flightright is one of the absolute pioneers in Europe.

The provider also scores points with transparent communication: The status of the case can be viewed online at any time – conveniently from the sofa or on the go via smartphone.

For all those who do not want to be left with the damage

No one should forgo their right to compensation just because the process seems complicated. With Flightright, asserting your rights is child's play – without any stress, paperwork, or legal fees. Anyone who has experienced flight trouble can now easily protect themselves and have their compensation pursued professionally.

Check here whether you are entitled to money – and in the best case scenario, receive compensation soon
