Ibiza Diary: News from Sunday, September 14, 2025

The Santa Eulària marina is planning a new buoy field with 15 moorings for boats from eight to 20 meters in length. The reason for this is the uncontrolled anchoring in the bay, where up to 24 boats can congregate at the same time during peak season, creating safety risks. Instead of conventional concrete anchors, artificial biotopes will be used to protect the seabed and provide habitat for marine animals. The expansion will increase the total number of buoy moorings on Ibiza to 3.766, with the majority of the new moorings planned for Portinatx. According to an environmental study, the impact is minimal, and the limit of 15 boats will also reduce the impact on the landscape.

• Artist Cindy Houdini has created a work of art depicting Ibiza with a fictional metro network. The imaginative map includes stops at familiar locations such as Matutes, Es Vedrá, and Disco, and even a line to the ferry terminal. According to the Agony + Ecstasy gallery, this is not a real project, but an artistic vision. The larger version of the work is almost sold out, demonstrating the high public interest. The image is intended to be a thought-provoking provocation about mobility and infrastructure on the island.

• The organization People for Formentera (GxF) warns of a sharp increase in illegal camping on the island. Campers and motorhomes, in particular, are reportedly setting up camp in coastal areas and protected natural zones, despite municipal regulations prohibiting this. One example is the presence of vehicles at the port of La Savina, which are also alleged to be violating Formentera.eco regulations. It also criticizes the fact that the Insular Council no longer publishes weekly reports on proposed fines. GxF is calling for stricter controls and tougher measures to protect the environment.

• Ibiza's public transport system is facing a fundamental modernization. Starting November 1, Alsa will take over bus operations from Sagalés and launch a new concession. Plans include more routes, more frequent service, and more environmentally friendly vehicles, initially in a transitional phase. Within nine months, the entire fleet will be renewed and converted entirely to electric propulsion in the Ibiza metropolitan area. A GPS system will enable real-time monitoring of punctuality, and an app will show passengers the location of the buses.

Flightright – When passenger rights simply work

Flight delays, cancellations, or overbookings are unfortunately not uncommon. However, many passengers are unaware that they are entitled to compensation in such cases – and even fewer know how to pursue it. This is precisely where Flight right comes into play: a pioneer among legal tech companies and market leader in the field of air passenger rights.

Specialist in EU passenger rights since 2010

Since its founding in 2010, Flightright has pursued a clear goal: to help passengers assert their rights against airlines – quickly, easily, and risk-free. The legal basis for this is the EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation 261/2004, which, among other things, provides compensation of up to 600 euros for flight problems.

How Flightright works

Using the service is incredibly simple: Affected parties enter the key details of their flight online – within a few minutes, the system automatically checks whether a claim exists. If so, Flightright handles the entire process with the airline, including all legal steps. Even court proceedings can be conducted upon request – at no additional cost to the customer.

The highlight: Payment is only made if the claim is successful. If no payout is made, there are no costs. If compensation is successful, Flightright retains a commission from the compensation amount. This model ensures maximum fairness and transparency.

Retroactive up to three years possible

Many people don’t know that even flights that took place in the past can still be compensated – usually up to three years retroactively. It is therefore worthwhile to have older cases reviewed again.

How much is the compensation?

The amount of compensation depends on the flight route:

  • EUR 250 for short distances up to 1.500 km
  • EUR 400 for medium-haul flights between 1.500 km and 3.500 km
  • EUR 600 for long distances over 3.500 km

This usually requires an arrival delay of at least three hours – or a flight cancelled at short notice for which the airline is responsible.

Why Flightright?

What sets Flightright apart is not only its fair success model, but also its impressive success rate of around 99% in legal proceedings. With over 600 million euros in compensation payments enforced Flightright is one of the absolute pioneers in Europe.

The provider also scores points with transparent communication: The status of the case can be viewed online at any time – conveniently from the sofa or on the go via smartphone.

For all those who do not want to be left with the damage

No one should forgo their right to compensation just because the process seems complicated. With Flightright, asserting your rights is child's play – without any stress, paperwork, or legal fees. Anyone who has experienced flight trouble can now easily protect themselves and have their compensation pursued professionally.

Check here whether you are entitled to money – and in the best case scenario, receive compensation soon
