Airlines are reducing available seats to and from Ibiza by around 4,3 percent this winter. Between November and March, capacity will drop to approximately 1,7 million seats, compared to over 1,77 million last winter. Nationwide, however, seat availability will increase by 2,7 percent, while in the Balearic Islands it will fall by 8,3 percent overall. Palma, with a drop of 13 percent, and Menorca, with a drop of 10,3 percent, are particularly hard hit, with Ibiza falling even further. The decline once again raises the question of how realistic the desired staggering of the season actually is.
● Update Santa EulàriaThe armed man from the Siesta urbanization surrendered to the Guardia Civil without resistance. After his arrest, it turned out that the alleged firearm was a dummy. There were no injuries. The cordoned-off area has been reopened. The investigation into the circumstances is ongoing.
● In Santa Eulària A man barricaded himself in his apartment with a firearm. The Guardia Civil has cordoned off a large area of the house in the Siesta urbanization, and emergency services are on site. A police negotiator is currently in talks with the man to reach a peaceful solution. It is currently unclear whether other people are in the apartment or what the man's motives are.
• Next week, the port of Ibiza is expecting a record number of cruise ships on two days. On Tuesday, September 23, the "Explora II," the "Norwegian Jewel," and the "Scarlet Lady" will dock – with up to 6.000 passengers. Between 19 p.m. and 22 p.m., all three ships will dock in Botafoch simultaneously. On Wednesday, September 24, the two ocean giants "Costa Toscana" and "MSC Grandiosa" will follow, with a potential 12.800 guests. The "Scarlet Lady" will also stay until 17 p.m. In total, more than 15.000 cruise passengers could be on the island on both days.
● Ibiza invests over EUR 5,1 million in four key projects to renovate and enhance its historic districts. The work will affect the Camí del Calvari, sa Peixateria, the Mercat Vell, and a newly established archaeological laboratory in Sa Pedrera. A budget of €1,8 million has been set aside for Sa Peixateria, while retaining its original octagonal structure and for cultural areas such as exhibitions and concerts. The Mercat Vell will be redesigned for around €578.500, with new stalls and improved facilities, while around €2,5 million will be invested in Camí del Calvari, including new viewing platforms, shady areas, and expanded parking. According to Mayor Triguero and the authorities, the construction work is scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2026, revitalizing the city center and making it a more livable area even outside of peak season.
• A 30-year-old Dutch man was arrested in Sant Antoni after police searched his car. Officers discovered more than 5.000 ecstasy pills, over five kilos of ketamine, and additional quantities of MDMA. More than €2.300 in cash was also seized. The man was immediately taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.

• Hotel occupancy on Ibiza and Formentera was 92,3 percent in August 2025. This represents an increase of 1,2 percent compared to the previous year. Santa Eulària and Formentera in particular recorded increases, while Ibiza declined slightly. The season is therefore considered very positive. Hotels and authorities are reporting a stable summer.
• Ibiza JoySail 2025 has started with 22 superyachts. The course takes the boats over 15 nautical miles from Es Vedrà to Cabo Llentrisca. Sailors compete in categories such as Performance and World Cruising. The event attracts international crews to the island. Visitors can also marvel at the spectacular yachts.
• In the Balearic Islands, a total of 2.831 illegal vacation rentals were removed from Airbnb between July 2024 and September 2025. This affected more than 14.500 unauthorized beds. Ibiza is considered the first region in Spain to remove all illegal listings from the platform. The Spanish Ministry of Housing enforced the order. Authorities see this as a major step in the fight against illegal rentals.
• A forest fire broke out yesterday afternoon in the Prat den Fita area of Ibiza, near Platja d'en Bossa. The blaze affected approximately 0,5 hectares of pine forest, scrub, and wild olive trees, as well as some improvised shelters in nearby infraviviendas. Two firefighting aircraft, a water truck, 14 forest firefighters, including technicians, and two environmental officers were deployed. The fire was brought under control by the Balearic Institute of Nature (Ibanat) at around 17:22 p.m., without any injuries. The plume of smoke was visible from afar, and the operation caused traffic disruptions around Platja d'en Bossa.
