Demolition of the hotel ruins in Cala d'en Serra is getting closer
Similar to that Club Festival there is another one in Ibiza lost place in the north of the island. The hotel ruins on the beach Cala d'en Serra. Visitors reach the ruins after a long, rocky path. The plans for the holiday complex with two pools date back to the 70s by Josep Lluís Sert. The project was canceled when Sert died of lung cancer in 1983 and has since been completely abandoned.
Almost 50 years after construction began, the community Sant Joan now all permits for the hotel complex are in Cala d'en Serra declared void. The basis for this step was an extensive report that confirmed significant structural damage and defacement of the coastal landscape. The decision marks the first step towards the planned demolition of the ruins. The owner, Mirenview Limited, now has time to appeal this decision.
The history of the ruins goes back to the 1970s. In the April 1975 The first building permit was issued, which was extended several times. Nevertheless, the construction work was not completed. The last deadline passed on December 3, 1990. Since then, the construction site has remained unfinished.
The site is now part of a nature reserve and, according to the new mayor Tania Marí, the ruins pose a threat to public safety. The Ministry of Housing also found deficiencies in the planning. Mirenview Limited failed in its bid to have the project declared a public interest development in 2012.

The ruins on the beach Cala d'en Serra, originally designed by renowned Catalan architect Josep Lluís Sert, has stood unfinished since his death in 1983. Various proposals for the use of the site remained unsuccessful.
The immense concrete structure on 5300 square meters of land is increasingly becoming a safety problem and is blighting the picturesque bay. The demolition has so far been delayed due to unclear financing. Environmental activist Joan Carles Palerm suggests using tourism tax for demolition.
Mayor Tania Marí has now paved the way for the demolition by declaring the permits expired. The owners now have time to comment. In this way, a long-standing eyesore in the beautiful nature of Sant Joan could finally be removed.

Flightright – When passenger rights simply work
Flight delays, cancellations, or overbookings are unfortunately not uncommon. However, many passengers are unaware that they are entitled to compensation in such cases – and even fewer know how to pursue it. This is precisely where Flight right comes into play: a pioneer among legal tech companies and market leader in the field of air passenger rights.
Specialist in EU passenger rights since 2010
Since its founding in 2010, Flightright has pursued a clear goal: to help passengers assert their rights against airlines – quickly, easily, and risk-free. The legal basis for this is the EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation 261/2004, which, among other things, provides compensation of up to 600 euros for flight problems.
How Flightright works
Using the service is incredibly simple: Affected parties enter the key details of their flight online – within a few minutes, the system automatically checks whether a claim exists. If so, Flightright handles the entire process with the airline, including all legal steps. Even court proceedings can be conducted upon request – at no additional cost to the customer.
The highlight: Payment is only made if the claim is successful. If no payout is made, there are no costs. If compensation is successful, Flightright retains a commission from the compensation amount. This model ensures maximum fairness and transparency.
Retroactive up to three years possible
Many people don’t know that even flights that took place in the past can still be compensated – usually up to three years retroactively. It is therefore worthwhile to have older cases reviewed again.
How much is the compensation?
The amount of compensation depends on the flight route:
- EUR 250 for short distances up to 1.500 km
- EUR 400 for medium-haul flights between 1.500 km and 3.500 km
- EUR 600 for long distances over 3.500 km
This usually requires an arrival delay of at least three hours – or a flight cancelled at short notice for which the airline is responsible.
Why Flightright?
What sets Flightright apart is not only its fair success model, but also its impressive success rate of around 99% in legal proceedings. With over 600 million euros in compensation payments enforced Flightright is one of the absolute pioneers in Europe.
The provider also scores points with transparent communication: The status of the case can be viewed online at any time – conveniently from the sofa or on the go via smartphone.
For all those who do not want to be left with the damage
No one should forgo their right to compensation just because the process seems complicated. With Flightright, asserting your rights is child's play – without any stress, paperwork, or legal fees. Anyone who has experienced flight trouble can now easily protect themselves and have their compensation pursued professionally.
