Nature photography at its finest: Over 50 photographers meet in Ibiza
From the 28. to 30. March 2025 Ibiza becomes a hotspot for nature photographers from all over Spain: In the cultural center Can Jeroni in Sant Josep de sa Talaia finds the 9th Congress for Nature Photography (9è Congrés de Fotografie de Natura d'AFONIB a Eivissa). The event is organized by the Balearic Association AFONIB in cooperation with the city administration of Sant JosepA weekend full of inspiration, know-how, and breathtaking images awaits all who are passionate about the beauty of nature.
Top-class lectures & exciting perspectives
The Photography Congress brings some of Spain's best nature photographers to the stage. Guest speakers include:
- Senén Cadenaswho is about Image composition in landscapes and the art of Photography without post-processing speaks – very puristically, very strongly.
- Jessica Rojas, who with her lecture “Life on the Moon” shows an unusual view of lunar photography.
- Victor Ortega, who charmingly explains how to be successful despite city noise and concrete landscape Birds photographed in urban areas.
Additionally, five members of AFONIB - Miquel Micer, Joan Pereyra, Nestor Carda, Xavier Mas and Xavier Sansó – personal insights into their work, techniques and favorite motifs.
Exhibition: The best nature photos of the Balearic Islands
Parallel to the lecture program, the exhibition on 18th edition of the Memorial Climent Picornell – the most important nature photography competition in the Balearic Islands. The exhibited works feature impressive nature photographs of the islands' flora and fauna.
On a photo tour along the coast
A highlight of the congress is the organized photo tours:
- Along the Coastal landscapes of Sant Josep
- All Illots de Ponentwhere seabirds can be observed and photographed in their natural environment
Expertise & creative diversity
As the Sant Josep City Council announces, it is not only the big names that enrich the congress: In addition to the renowned guest photographers Senén Cadenas, Jessica Rojas and Victor Ortega Five AFONIB members will also share their knowledge and present their projects: Joan Pereira, Miquel Micer, Nestor Carda, Xavier Mas and Xavier Sansó.
Senén Cadenas gives two inspiring lectures – on Saturday about “Landscape Composition”, on Sunday about “Photography without retouching: technique and essence”. Jessica Rojas takes her audience on a visual journey to the Earth's satellite in her presentation “Life on the Moon”, while Victor Ortega charming and practical about the challenges of Bird photography in urban areas speaks – “Mission Impossible?”.
The local speakers also address exciting and sometimes unusual topics: from Underwater photos of colorful nudibranchs using the Course of wild streams right down to one Photo project about the Tinto River, Marine biology and creative author photographyTwo days full of inspiration, intense conversations, and impressive nature experiences are guaranteed.
